Friday, January 29-Tuesday, February 2

After taking the vocabulary quiz over Lesson 8, students worked on their papers for Running Brave  and their literary circle papers.

Students will also meet in the computer lab 0n Monday and Tuesday.

The papers are due on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Thursday, January 28

Students discussed the requirements for the Running Brave and literary circle assignment.  We also reviewed vocabulary lesson 8 for the quiz tomorrow.

We will be in the computer lab 1/28, 2/1 and 2/2.  Peer editing must be completed as part of the assignment’s requirements.  The paper is due Thursday, Feb. 4.

Assignment:  Write the thesis for the compare/contrast assignment.  Study vocabulary words for lessons 1-8.

Wednesday, January 27

Students finished watching the video Running Brave.  Tomorrow we will be discussing the comparison/contrast guidelines for their paper.

Tuesday, January 26

After discussing the vocabulary words for Lesson 8, students continued watching the video Running Brave.

Assignment:  Complete flashcards or a tri-fold for the vocabulary words for Lesson 8.  It is due on Wednesday, January 27.

Monday, January 25

At the beginning of class we discussed the specifics of the Running Brave and literary circle comparison/contrast writing assignment.  For the remainder of the period we watched the video Running Brave.  Those who were absent will be expected to make up the viewing of the movie.

Friday, January 22

After discussing curriculum choices for their senior year, students received their writing assignment for the literary circle unit:  comparing/contrasting their LC protagonist with Billy Mills from the movie Running Brave.  Students began watching the movie in class.  We will continue watching it next week.

Thursday, January 21

Students presented their literary circle posters to the class today.  It was mandatory that students complete part of the presentation.  Those who were absent must complete a make-up assignment.

Tuesday, January 19

Students had their final literary circle meetings at the beginning of class.  Next, they began working on their final literary circle project:  creating posters so that they could share the main idea of their novel with the rest of the class.

Wednesday, January 13-Tuesday, January 19

For the next few days, students will be working on their literary circle projects.  Today, we had literary circle meeting #3.  Thursday will be our final reading day.  Meeting #4 will be on Friday, January 15.  Meeting #5 will be on Tuesday, January 19.  Again, Thursday, January 14, will be our final IN CLASS reading day.  Students should be prepared to finish the book outside of class.

Monday, January 11 and Tuesday, January 12

Monday:  Students had literary circle meeting #2.  After completing the small group discussions, students then reviewed vocabulary from lessons 1-7 with the game “Vocabularytionary.”  The extra credit assignment was also collected.

Tuesday:  Students will have class time to complete their reading and group worksheet for literary circle meeting #3.
